Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands

Athens, the 6th March 2012

Dear friends,

We are pleased to announce that the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands, a public higher education institution in Greece, has decided to create an open access(1) scientific review, with editorial quality control.

The journal will evolve around the theme of promoting cooperation and dialogue on the management and protection of the physical and cultural environment of the Mediterranean territory, hence the name "Odysseus", which alludes to the famous Greek hero’s journey around the Mediterranean Sea to his home Ithaca, one of the Ionian Islands.

The review aims to be a meeting and discussion place about research concerning the management and protection of cultural and natural heritage of the Mediterranean territory. Papers will be selected -after a call for papers- by an international academic committee. Contributions can be submitted in English, French and Greek.

Having the will to proceed as quickly as possible to the publication of the first issue (June 15) we are launching two calls.

First, to do us the honor of participating in the academic committee of the review and designate the name of the person who will actively participate.

Second, to circulate our call for papers for the first issue (to be communicated to members of the academic committee shortly).

Prof. Napoleon Maravegias, President of the Governing Board of the Institute of Technological Education of the Ionian Islands, will chair the academic committee of "Odysseus".

In expectation of a positive response from you, please accept the expression of my highest consideration.

Ms Valia Kaimaki. Ph.D,

Project Manager of Odysseus
