Call for Participation for the Summer School of integrated environmental planning in an insular environment

TEI of Ionian Islands with the co-financing of the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports will implement under the Act “Promotion of the TEI of Ionian Islands as an International Pole of Education and Innovation” the following program of Summer School, therefore it proceeds to the publication of the call for participation for prospective interested trainees.

  • The program is addressed to:
  1. Employees and executives of public and private sector, NGOs, entrepreneurs, employees and executives managers of the environment sector.
  2. Environmental Science, graduates and holders of postgraduate degrees.
  3. Students with a relevant scientific object.

  • A prerequisite to participate in the program is that the candidates:
  1. Have professional knowledge in the following subject areas: environmental management, geographical analysis space, protection and sustainable development.

  • The main purpose is to provide the necessary knowledge and equipping for integrated environmental analysis and planning in insular environments by applying modern and innovative actions for the benefit of society and the natural environment.

This school is developing the following four main directions renovation:

  1. Modern technologies for mapping, monitoring and modeling of the environment
  2. Biodiversity, ecosystem processes and threats in the context of environmental planning for the islands
  3. Environment and Sustainable Development in Islands
  4. The integration of ecosystem functions and benefits in integrated environmental planning in the insular environment.

During the Summer School, participants will have daily practice and will form group projects (in groups of 4-5 persons), field works for data collection and integration of scientific work in poster form at the end of school.

  • Participants will be given a gross allowance of 4.00 € for every hour of training (total gross amount: 240,00 € per person). Entitled to receive financial aid are not those who attended the summer school cycle 2012 and received the relevant training allowance and those involved in other activities of the program "Promotion of the TEI of Ionian Islands as an International Pole of Education and Innovation".
  • The total duration will be of two (2) weeks and six (6) hours per day.
  • Right for absence: 6 hours (10% of the monitoring hours).

      1. By post to the address above, with the indication: "For the Summer School of the Integrated Environmental Planning in an Insular Environment", date of receipt by the TEI on 03/07/2013.
      2. Documents’ submission: candidate’s application form and photocopies of diplomas, certificates of attendance etc.

In case of acceptance, the participants' have the responsibility to provide certified copies of all the necessary documents before summer school starts.

  • Procedure and criteria for selection

The selection criteria are:

  1. The relevance of the training subject to the object of study and / or work
  2. The work experience
  3. Those who attended the summer school 2012 and received the relevant training allowance are not entitled to apply. Neither are entitled those involved in actions of the program "Promotion of Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands as an International Pole Education and Innovation" and they receive a salary from it.
