Argostoli, June 13-15, 2014

Special theme: Co-creating Shareable and Creative Cities

Join us for a co-creative, innovative experience. Contribute to our vision for shareable and creative cities.

The third co-creation workshop in Greece and the fifth worldwide takes place in Argostoli, Kefalonia, in collaboration with the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands, Dept. of Digital Media and Communication. We all join forces in Kefalonia, to contribute to the creative development of local economies and academic research.

Our special guests explore the novel field of co-creation using breakthrough methodologies and networking opportunities to create new technologies, new markets, new opportunities in the context of creativity, sharing and sustainability.

Developing upon the principle that the disruptive combination of people with special skills and yet totally different backgrounds can deliver top class results defying convention, co-creation includes challenging questions demanding challenging answers in challenging time-frames. The rising enthusiasm, the unique experience of co-creating ventures and the common goals create a unique environment for all participants. In a co-creation workshop, there are no spectators; only agents of creativity.

The Kefalonia Workshop includes academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, and corporations arriving from all around the world. In the heart of the cosmopolitan, picturesque capital city of Kefalonia, Argostoli we take the challenge to provide thoughts, ideas, and insight on tomorrow’s cities, under the hospitality of the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands. This co-creative initiative breathes new life in town, fostering the new entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit in the economy, in culture as well as in research.

Discussion theme: Co-creating Shareable and Creative Cities

During three exciting days under the Greek sun, by the laced coastlines, participants work to develop the potential of more creative and shareable cities.

Tomorrow’s cities will have to provide for millions of people facing difficult times, for millions of youth waiting to marvel. Alienation, obsolete administration and lack of grass-root initiatives already set obstacles to the future.

We need infrastructures, networking opportunities, citizens’ actions and initiatives along with sharing practices, novel economies, social entrepreneurship, flexible governance and shared ethics to create fertile grounds for a greater future. Participants share their know-how and work together to deliver viable proposals.

Argostoli is a live example of the need for co-creative initiatives that will revitalize the economy after the recent turmoil, leading to disruptive innovation in collaboration with the Universities and grassroots initiatives. Among our major contribution is delivering interesting proposals to tackle the towns needs and demands for the future.
