CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

TEI of Ionian Islands under the European Program "Education and Lifelong Learning" and with the co-financing of the European Union (European Social Fund - ESF) and of the national funds are to implement within the Subproject "04" entitled "Targeted Actions to Support and Promote Cephalonia” of the Act “PROMOTION OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE OF IONIAN ISLANDS AS AN INTERNATIONAL POLE OF EDUCATION AND INNOVATION" and MIS 352400, the Summer School program proceeds to the call for expressions of interest for prospective participants / trainees:

PROGRAM INFORMATION

* Project Title: "Summer school on Local Agri-food production" (A.1.3)

* Summer school venue: TEI of Ionian Islands, Avenue A. Tritsi, PC 28100, Argostoli

* Implementation period: 01/09/2014 - 07/09/2014

* Number of trainees: 20

* Duration in hours: 40

  • The program is addressed to:

  1. Employees and executives of public and private sector, NGOs, etc. that are related to issues of production, packaging and marketing of agricultural products / food.
  2. Entrepreneurs from the area of production and management of agricultural products / food with similar background knowledge.
  3. Graduates and postgraduates, with a broader background in agricultural science, systems and production management of agricultural products, environmental sciences and food. 
  4. Students with a relevant scientific object.

  • A necessary prerequisite for participation in the program is that candidates have the following characteristics:

  1. Academic or professional knowledge in the following subject areas: agronomy, biology, veterinary medicine, chemistry, plant and animal production and food science.
  2. Good knowledge of the English language will be considered an asset.

  • Its main purpose is to prepare participants for the subjects of agri-food production, covering key topical issues and agriculture, farming and food processing plant and animal origin. Through the summer school, participants -as qualified members of the workforce involved in the chain of production, processing and marketing of agricultural products / food, are expected to contribute to the improvement of agri-food sector, giving a special emphasis on product quality.

  • For the participants, non-residents of Cephalonia, will be provided a grant of stay by 50% and up to 25,00 € per day.

  • The total duration of the Summer School will amount to forty (40) hours that will be implemented in seven (7) days according to the timetable of the Summer School.

  • Right for absence: 4 hours (10% of the monitoring hours).

  • Deadline and application procedure:

  1. Documents submission: candidate’s application form and photocopies of diplomas, certificates of experience etc.

In case of acceptance, participants have the responsibility to provide certified copies of all the necessary documents before summer school starts.

  • Procedure and criteria for selection

The selection criteria are:

  1. The relevance of the training subject to the object of study and / or work.
  2. Work experience.
  • Good knowledge of the English language will be considered an asset.
