Ongoing lectures regarding the Ionian Band in Lixouri


The seminars of the educational action “Conservation and Repair of Brass and Percussion Musical Instruments” implemented by the Department of Sound and Musical Instruments Technology continue in Lixouri.

The program of the next lectures is as follows:

Topic: The Band in the Ionian Islands

Speaker: Konstantinos Kardamis, Lecturer at Ionian University.

  • Wednesday, July 25, at 10:00 am

First topic: Bands, instruments and their history.

Speaker: Nikolas Boukas, Assistant Professor at TEI of Ionian Islands

Second topic: The musical instruments from the Physics viewpoint.

Speaker: Dionysios Katerelos, Assistant Professor at TEI of Ionian Islands

  • Friday, July 27, at 10:00 am

Topic: Enhance and conserve the cultural heritage

Speaker: Georgios Panagiaris, Professor at TEI of Athens



The lectures are open to any person interested and all the members and authorities of the local community are invited to participate. The courses are held in Lixouri Kefalonia in the halls of the Department (Buildings of former BES).

This important educational action includes lectures and practical training for the conservation and repair of musical instruments that are addressed to students of Philharmonic School of Kefalonia and their trainers, as well as to the students of the Department.

The ultimate goal of the program is to make Ionian Islands a nationwide reference as regards the object of the scientific conservation of traditional instruments and generally of works of the civilization.
